mmm coffee

I've been craving coffee ever since watching the Good Eats coffee episode, so I made myself some in my presspot this morning. (All hail the Holy Presspot, maker of divinely mellow coffee!) I am so AWAKE now, since I decided to use the caffeinated stuff.

I'm still at home because I have a foot doctor appointment this morning, which means I get to take the bus downtown, have my appointment, and then take the bus to work. Short day for me. And I love the 545 when it's not rush hour--big smooth-riding bus, all quiet. And I'll get to ask if the night splint is *supposed* to be making my toes numb and tingly all day long. It's not really bothersome unless I'm trying to pick things up with my toes (which I do less in the winter than the summer, since I wear socks more in the winter) but it *is* worrisome, because "numb and tingly" says "potential nerve damage" to me. And nerve damage is one of those things that it takes me an exceptionally long time to heal up from. We'll see.

okay. Time to shut down the computer, go put on my coat (which is officially too big for me; I need a new raincoat, I think) and head downtown.

I want a babydoll t-shirt that says on it:

not everything with wings is an angel.

As far as I know, this t-shirt doesn't exist. I may have to look into making one.

News from foot doctor: I am all good to go, and my plantar fascitis is healing nicely. If I need new orthotics, I can come back, but we're done with foot doctoring for the moment.

I am totally buzzing from caffeine right now. (Yes, from the one cup of coffee I had this morning. Well, it was a big mug. more like two cups.) I went to Hot Topic while waiting for my bus. I did buy things, only one of which I'd known I wanted before wandering into the store. (purple and black stripey tights; remains to be seen if they fit.) And a Labyrinth t-shirt. I resisted buying an Amy Brown calendar, because I want to buy one from the place in Kent after the holidays. (by the way, if you're ever stuck for an end-of-year gift for me, calendars are wonderful--I buy four of them every year, three for home and one for work.) Some habits from days past still stick with me--being nervous without a timepiece and a calendar around me, for instance.

I never, ever take the passage of time for granted.

Learn how to snowboard.

No, really.

Okay, maybe I want to just take a day's worth of lessons. But, suddenly, snowboarding is sounding like fun, and it would be a kind of cool way to check and see how my balance is doing these days.

(I also want to take yoga classes. I need to check into the Hot Yoga place just up the hill from my house.)

So I bought this new purse the other day. I love it, it's cute and very retro and has the best closure ever.

And I was playing with it tonight, and I realized, finally, why I like the closure. It's nearly identical in style and feel to one that my paternal grandmother used to let me play dress-up with when I was a little kid. The handbag must have dated from the sixties, if not the fifties.

So, you know, hello childhood sense memory. Heh.

the reason this makes me a dork is because I really had no idea till tonight why I loved the closure so and the moment I touched it I knew I needed to buy it. Which is weird, for me.

Going through old journal entries, finding some stuff I’d forgotten about. Including this.
