  Paraphrased conversation on a community:

Person A: *links to an article on a website*
Person B: "Ah, I like that, and this is why!  The folks who run that site have been working their way back into my good graces lately."
Person A: "Really?  What was your issue with them?"
Person B: "Oh, that thing they did, not so much the original thing but their response to criticism for it."
Person A: "Oh, I suspect we're going to be on opposite sides of that discussion, I tend to end up defending them."
Person B: "I'm perfectly fine with agreeing to disagree."
Person A: "Awesome."

...and there it lies.  Potential argument, neatly stepped around.  Both parties know they have differing opinions; neither sees any point in rehashing the argument in an attempt to sway another to their point of view.    This, kids, is How Not To Have An Argument.
