ummm....

There were like five police cars (including one unmarked) parked at 2nd and Pine this morning, lights flashing.

And a bunch of police officers clustered around the doorway of a business there.

Wonder what went down?

(police cars. not police cats. Though little cats with flashy lights on their heads is a cool image.)

shopping list

I want
a new heart. One that is not stupid,
one only lightly worn without a lot of miles on it.
One with extra logic circuits and digital technology.
I am tired of my analog emotions and desire something more precise.

I want
a new illness. This one bores me.
It's all very tiresome to have something so pedestrian
that yet cannot be fixed with all of medical science's new devices.
I want to trade it in on something newer, more exotic, and more importantly curable.

I want
a new calendar. One that does not roll
over year after year, where grey January is followed by dreary February
and you have to live for April and May.
I want a calendar where the months are named after plants.

I want
a new world. Something tasty, for me to discover
and gnaw on when I'm down to the rind.
A new place, where travel is cheap and nobody is trying to kill me.
I dislike this one right now and am thinking about trading up.

Also, I need milk.
As long as I'm at the store.

today, at lunch, I will go shopping.

I need 1) vellum (Paper Haus sells various sizes, and envelopes) and 2) a bowl for oatmeal at work, since I hate using the flimsy styrofoam ones they give us.

I also had an idea this morning for a chapbook bound with a ring at one corner and presented in an envelope instead of a cover. Hm.

other things I need are boxes to store supplies of things in. I think I'm going to get some more of those neat wooden box sets from ikea--they come with one big box and two smaller ones. I'll get a couple of those, in order to keep myself at least a vague semblance of organized.

(Other things I need to do include moving creative from the workbench (since it's officially stable and I don't anticipate needing to get into it again for a while) and doing a general cleanup of my office so I can actually work on book stuff.

Also, i have a shelf that would be wonderful for storing supplies if I could only clear it off. I can do that.

Okay, enthusiasm returning. This is a good thing!)
