My ankles have been hurting for a couple of weeks now, and it's gotten to the point where I'm avoiding going up and down stairs. I've been trying to figure out exactly what's wrong--the left hurts more than the right, which is usual as I sprained the left ankle badly a couple of years ago.
Oddly enough, it looks like I have a variation on shin splints. Instead of the pain being on the shin itself, it's near the inside ankle bone on both ankles. It's from doing the running in place at Curves. Which means I need to switch to doing a non-impact motion on the running pads (easy enough), and ice my ankles every evening for 20 minutes. And stretch, but I am a stretching fiend anyway because of my foot issues. It would probably be best for me to stop doing any exercise at all for three weeks, but that is not Going To Happen.
I like exercising. I wish it didn't always *hurt*.
