aithne: (bike)
I rode my bike to work today, for the first time. (I had some equipment issues, which have been resolved.) My route to work is a bit of an urban obstacle course, but it's not hard enough not to be fun. It was a fine, fine morning for a bike ride, too.

The ride home in the afternoon's going to be interesting. Uphill all the way, it seems. Should be fun. I think I'm going to ride my boke this week instead of working out; next week, I can figure out just how much exercise other than riding I can get in.
aithne: (Boone puppy)
Boone continues to be a good dog. Housetraining proceeds apace; he's training us, we're training him. He's also gotten leggy in the last couple of weeks, starting in on the adolescent phase of life. He still thinks Greebo is the best thing in the whole world.

I have to admit that there are things that are magic. A week ago or so, I started giving Boone cookies (larger treats than we use for training) by tossing them into his crate when it was time for bed. A week later, he's voluntarily walking into his crate at night mostly, especially when he knows I have a cookie for him. He's also starting to get fed in his crate, since otherwise he has a tendency to wander off mid-meal. I hear their attention span increases at about five months, and I hope this is the case as right now Boone's major nickname is Distracto Dog.

He tends to pick stuff up during walks, and usually we relieve him of his treasure more or less immediately. However, Laura was out wealking him yesterday, and noticed he'd picked something interesting up. He was trotting along, happy as can be, with something ping pong ball-sized hanging out of his mouth.

It turned out to be...a Jack in the Box antenna ball.

There are other toys that have been a hit, as well. For instance, we were at Mud Bay the other night and Laura picked up a small squeaky thing that had the very original name "Small Dot". We brought it home and gave it to Boone.

OH, the SQUEAKY! He literally squeaked Small Dot constantly until we took it away with him. Something about it is just extremely satisfying.

We do have a video camera. I think I'm going to try to get puppy videos, as I'm not sure anyone would beleive us that these two play together like they do.
