The Day of the Dead idea won the poll, and Storm and I have been playing with it. I think we've come up with something good.
Do not make the road of the dead slippery with tears.
It is a time of revolution in Mexico, and the Day of the Dead festival is being celebrated exuberantly in this time of uncertainty and trouble. But behind the sugar skulls and the fanciful masks there is something dark moving among the crowds. People are dying, murdered by an unknown hand.
A soldier in Zapata's army finds a dead compatriot. An officer of the beleaguered government looks for the killer of a rich man who had a secret, unsavory life. And a nun is called to the bedside of a savagely murdered prostitute, fearing that the rest of the population she serves may be at risk.
The only thing that links the murders is the sighting of a masked person nearby. As the three investigate their separate crimes, more people begin to die, one an hour.
The situation is far more urgent than they know. For if the nun, the cop, and the soldier cannot stop the murders and those behind them by the time the Festival ends, the forces that are motivating the killings will become fully manifest...and things once banished into the darkness will be set free once more.
