The Thing What's Next
Mar. 20th, 2009 08:58 amThe equinox is today. At 7:44 AM, spring began.
So, now is the time for me to say this:
A few weeks ago, I had a couple of things happen that made me believe that now is the right time for me to strike out on my own for a little while, reclaim my life, and do the things that I am passionate about and actually matter to me. Today is my last day at my current job.
For the next few months, I'm going to be doing my own thing, being a writer and photographer, getting things set up for my photography business. And in June, I will be living in Seattle for six weeks, attending the 2009 Clarion West Writer's Workshop. (Insert excited squeeing here; I'm still over the moon that I got in, and I've known for a few weeks now!)
After that, well, we'll see where I am personally, and where the economy is. It would be amazing to actually make a living with my camera or my words, but both of those things take time to establish. What I'm doing for the next few months is laying the groundwork.
It's going to be an interesting ride for the next few months, guys. I am looking forward to getting the do the things I love, and spending real time with my family and friends. (I think those close to me are almost as happy as I am that I'm not going to be working my current job any more. :)
So on the equinox, I fling myself into the void of the new.
It's spring.
