Writing a sex scene between two people who you've never written a sex scene for before is occasionally a lot like having sex with someone new for the first time: awkward, messy, full of half-starts and things that really ought to have been said but weren't.

Fortunately, when you'[re writing you can toss out what you wrote and start over, once you get a feel for how things are supposed to go.

I can see that, although what's happened to me in my work to date is that by the time the characters get to that point (wherever it may fall in the story) they have strong ideas about what they want to do, and essentially say, "we're doing THIS -- write it down." At that point, they leave me very little choreography to do...my job is more figuring out how to frame it and present it.

A case in point. I did NOT make any of this up, nor did I have ANY control over what the characters did. It was their idea, not mine. Even in scenes where I've had more control over the staging, like this one, the basic concept (e.g., "she wants her to fuck her against the wall in the alley") is there up front.
