I'm in the last week of the Small Business training course that an organization here called Washington CASH holds. The last couple of weeks, I've had the opportunity to do a little bit of talking about Web stuff--the basic stuff about how to think about what you want out of a Web site (and how to measure whether you're meeting your goals), what sort of content search engines like, etc. I've lived and breathed this stuff for so long that I assumed everyone knows about it.

Not so much. I had an entire class full of people staring at me as if I'd just started spouting Ancient Wisdom. And, you know, it was awesome.

I thought I was tired of Web stuff; evidently not. I'm going to see if I can arrange to teach some classes, because I am definitely qualified.

You should get involved with the Grassroots Business Association - I would love to hear you give a talk about that at one of their events! I love the GBA (full disclosure, one of my best friends is a founder) and it's really helped me feel like I'm on the right path with my business. The members skew younger, more tech-savvy but not always experts, and most of the businesses represented are of the creative sort - it's a great group.

Yep, it's so cool when you stand before a group of people and realize that they appreciate so much what it is you are sharing with them - your knowledge, etc. It's pretty cool!

You should definitely teach classes - most people are totally clueless there, even many professionals who should know.

Did they suggest actual webspace and domain reg providers that people could use? A lot of people get hung up there and end up paying way too much.
