I've had it about up to here with mySQL. I updated pMachine, and first, the alter table queries simply didn't work.
Then I was using myphpadmin to attempt to do the alter queries by hand. It claimed it couldn't write the database file. Then it couldn't read the database file. Now it's not recognizing the root@localhost login. Note that I didn't DO anything, I was just poking around the tables. (okay, i did do a flush, which is when the logins started to fail.)
HI I HATE MYSQL. Hate it with a burning fucking passion. Every single time I try and do something to the tables, the database corrupts. It's possible, this time, that mysqld has just lost its little mind, and to that end I'm restarting creative to try and fix that. However, if that doesn't work, I am going to abandon pMachine entirely and write my own journaling system. with an XML/XSL backend. It's not like journal pages need to be dynamic, for fuck's sake, they just need to be able to be refreshed whenever you post something new.
Update: well, a reboot seems to have made mysqld happy again. And it's letting me do the alter queries. Allllll righty, then.
