sometimes, things are just perfect.

I was feeling better today, almost human once more. I worked like a busy little bee earlier today, finished a few things I'd been putting off and started a few more, cleaned off my desk, and then stopped, and sighed.
It was time to get out. I looked at movie listings. Ah, Vanity Fair is out! I love costume dramas, a taste that I believe is shared by exactly none of the people I go to movies with on a regular basis. Hmmm, movie times. Well, lookie here. Playing at Pacific Place at 3:50 PM.
Hm.
I check the time. It's 2:45.
I check the bus schedule. There's a 545 that leaves the transit center at 3:08.
I check with my PM. "Dude, it's Friday afternoon, you've been sick all week, would you just go already?" (not a direct quote. For starters, my PM would never call me "dude".)
And out the door I go. Bus picks me up, takes me downtown, easy as pie and slick as a whistle. I walk the two blocks to the theater. I slide into my seat exactly two minutes before the mvoie starts.
Cue previews! And then movie, which I loved. (Pretty pretty dresses. Pretty pretty Reese Witherspoon. Plot? Um. I'll get back to you. As usual, the book is better. But! Pretty dresses.)
Afterwards, I walked to the bus. I came down the stairs to watch an overly full 72 pull away from my stop...just as a completely empty 73 pulled up to replace it. The bus-fu is strong in this one, it seems. My transfer in the U District took all of five minutes, which was a surprise in and of itself.
And now I'm home. I had leftovers for dinner, and now I'm going to settle down and write for a while, I think. But it's been a good afternoon, it has.

Date: 2004-09-11 08:55 am (UTC)I actually like watching movies by myself, and I sort of miss doing so, now that I'm dating three people. (which means that I rarely watch movies by myself.) It's a special treat to go to the movies alone. But I confess i'm odd. :)
