Good advice

The instant you hear a health claim based on a link, correlation, association, relationship, or any other similar euphemism, just change the channel. It’s probably the healthiest response for consumers in today’s fear-ridden climate. Otherwise, you’ll find yourself becoming a nervous wreck from every sensationalized “scare of the day” that comes along.

Another consumer tip is that whenever you hear something that makes you feel worried or scared, that’s your baloney alert that you’re being manipulated. Fear is a marketing tactic. Credible, careful science, in contrast, is objective and reported without an emotional or political spin or trying to sell you something.

A shot of relief for those with depression

The kind of surprising thing?

The drug they're using is ketamine.

It's not noted in the article that ketamine is an anesthetic (often a veterinary anesthetic) that is used recreationally by a lot of people (it's a dissociative/hallucinogen). They do note that it's unlikely that ketamine will become a widely used treatment for depression, though I could totally see it as part of a treatment package.

Kind of cool, though. Brain chemistry is a wild, wild thing.

A map of what's available on Metro Route 44, stop by stop. (PDF)

Something like this should exist for all of our bus routes, I think.
